Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung
The CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung is only the second car in Mercedes-AMG's exclusive Mythos series, and all 30 examples reportedly sold out before the car's official reveal. It started as a question from a small internal engineering team: how far could a CLE be pushed toward pure driving dynamics, with no need to consider daily usability. AMG's answer strips the rear seats and acoustic insulation out entirely, replacing them with a roll-over bar and lightweight racing bucket seats, part of a broader lightweighting effort that cuts about 375 pounds overall. A widened body adds 2.4 inches of track at both axles, and the front diffuser can be manually switched between Street and Race modes, the latter using the Venturi effect to actively increase front-axle downforce. The reworked 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine uses a flat-plane crankshaft for sharper throttle response, making 637 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque, sent exclusively to the rear wheels through a 9-speed automatic. It hits 124 mph in 11.4 seconds on the way to a 193 mph top speed, and every car is hand-built at AMG's Affalterbach headquarters.
