Genesis X Skorpio Concept Vehicle
Genesis modeled the X Skorpio after a black scorpion, and the shape follows through with armor-like body panels and a low, coiled stance built to survive extreme terrain rather than just look tough. It's still officially a concept car, though Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke has confirmed interested buyers have already placed orders and a limited production run is under consideration. Le Mans winner and former Formula E champion André Lotterer drove it up Italy's Tutto Bene hill climb, its first real test under dynamic conditions, kicking up dirt and sliding through corners rather than crawling through a ceremonial parade lap. A twin-turbo V8 makes 1,100 horsepower, sent to 40-inch off-road tires wide enough to crawl over rocks that would stop a normal SUV cold. The steering wheel houses its own instrument cluster, keeping speed and vitals directly in the driver's line of sight instead of forcing a glance down at the dash, and a sliding cockpit display shifts position depending on whether the driver is riding solo or with a co-pilot navigating.
