NFTs continue to spread into new realms, with high-end spirits being the latest. Blockbar has teamed with Glenfiddich to bring a rare scotch whisky into existence as an NFT. Distilled in 1973, the liquid spent 25 years in American oak, before then-Malt Master David Stewart removed it in 1998, transferring it to French oak barrels that had previously held Armagnac. There it sat for another 21 years before its 2019 bottling. Posited as an investment piece, the NFT version can be exchanged for the physical bottle, of which only 15 exist, with each digital copy being "burned" upon redemption.
