Theon Design Porsche 911 964 Restomod
Gunther Werks just hit 1,000 horsepower in the race to make the most powerful air-cooled 911 restomod. Theon Design's response is to ignore the number entirely. The Oxfordshire shop's latest 964 makes 421 horsepower from a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter air-cooled flat-six, but a full carbon body brings the whole car to 2,526 pounds, light enough to beat a current GT3 on power-to-weight without a turbo in sight. Carbon covers nearly everything except the doors, which stayed steel because swapping them would have changed the way they sound and feel. Inside, carbon panels are wrapped in Liquorice leather with Lizard Green stitching, Recaro RS buckets, and a vintage Becker Mexico head unit concealing a Hertz amp and six Focal speakers. Six are scheduled per year, each one built to a different owner's spec.
